There are a few material things that I have affection for in my life. Perhaps affection isn’t the best word. More like obsession I suppose. One of them is purses. I typically buy a few purses every year, because I get bored easily with what I have. Another is shoes. I don’t have an extraordinary amount of shoes (I’m no Imelda Marcos), but I am always on the lookout for a new pair of comfortable cute shoes. And finally, (but by no means the last thing), I obsess over design books.

I have them everywhere in my house. Every bookshelf that I have is littered with them. They are displayed in every way possible. I have them perched on frame stands to display nice covers, I have them standing up in a row with artistic bookends, I have them laying down with their bindings showing and topped off with a designer box, I have some in hidden piles around the house because they don’t fit anywhere else and the ones that aren’t my favorites, but that I can’t part with, I have in shelves in my garage. I told you… it’s an obsession.
So, it goes without saying that I always have my eye out for new design books on the market. And, boy, are there a bevy of them coming out for the Fall, just in time for Christmas (hint, hint!).
I will say that there is one very popular author/writer in particular that I will not buy any more books from because I had the opportunity to meet her and I will just say that she was less than cordial. In fact, she was downright snobbish and couldn’t care less that I admired her work and have been a past customer. Sad, really, that she lost me as a future customer. And sad for the designers that she writes for too!
But, enough of that… onto the new design books coming out! I’m so excited!

Oh my gosh - you and I are JUST alike in this way! I LOVE purses and have way too many and never need another - but when I find one I love or that is great deal - I just can't help myself. I have a lot of shoes too - but probably more purse. And like you, I LOVE design books and mags!! It's such a treat to get a new one! =)
I see a few I need to go order!
I am the same way about the design books, and I can't seem to stop!! But not handbags and shoes thank God. I have a pink handbag that I carry in the spring/summer and a black one that I carry in the fall/winter. I love them both and was on my 3rd year with the pink ...so I went on e-bay and found another one just like it...hahaha I know I am crazy! But when I like something , I like it. I guess everyone will think I have had the same bag for 10 years. I think the two will last at least that long. Now , if I could only find another one like my black one, but it is only 2 years old...
Fabulous roundup! I want to order them all!
Oh I didn't know so many of these were available. I LOVE design books too!
They all look great! Great post.

I must say I too have had to curb my book buying, I really like the Well-dressed Home book though. Reading the description in Amazon, it quite accurately points out that one's personal style should be reflected in the home also. I thought this was common sense, then again some must remember not to Keep up with the Joneses in dress and home. Thank you for another addition to my list.
Oh yes, my Amazon wish list is about to be updated!
Hi Rebecca,
You recently commented on a post of mine, mentioning Shades of Light! Thanks!! My new favorite resource...mentioned you with a thanks today in my post, check it out.
Have a great day! Janell
What a year for interior design books! I might have to ask for an Amazon certificate for Christmas, as I will be in Colorado and don't relish the idea of lugging home 30 pounds of design books.
